2022 Zoom for Missions
Missions Non-Breakfast! We had an wonderful experience last January at our first Missions Zoom “Breakfast” and were planning to do a combined in-person and Zoom meeting this year until the Omicron variety of COVID surged and pushed us out entirely into cyberspace. So this year we’ll be gathering again entirely on Zoom and hearing from the following speakers: Chase Miller, Jerry & Adelaide Svoboda, Patrick & Janelle Carbary, Clara Pak, and hopefully others who are out on the mission field now. Two Missionary Updates The Millers in Africa After a 14-hour flight, Chase and Jimmy Miller arrived in Nairobi, Kenya with their son Isaiah on July 25 and passed through customs without any hold up. Dear Colleagues, Jimmy and I are heading back to Tenwek Hospital with our son Isaiah on July 23. Despite many obstacles, including a surge of COVID in the region, the door remains open to serve the Kipsigis and Maasai people. We are hearing that the western part of Kenya is seeing high rates of COVID. Specifically, Bomet County where Tenwek Hospital is located has restricted movement in and out as well as curfews in place. Vaccination rates in Kenya remain lower than 1%. We had an excellent turnout at our first COVID-19 Missions Zoom “Breakfast” on Saturday morning, January 23 from 9-11 with very edifying live reports, complete with PowerPoints, from five missionaries from Cambodia and several African nations on our panel, all of whom have family and/or training ties to the Greater Rochester area.
